Missourians for Responsible Transportation is engaged in advocacy efforts to improve streets, roads, and trails that work for all Missourians.
The mission of Missourians for Responsible Transportation is to be the leader in fostering strong communities by aligning advocacy efforts for safer streets, roads, and trails that work for all Missourians. To guide our advocacy efforts, we have developed a list of policy principles. In crafting these principles, we hope to do the following:
We also want to be clear in how we define “multimodal”. For MRT, “multimodal” covers the following:
Underlying these principles is a focus on well-informed best practices, collaboration with key stakeholders, and identifying the most strategic approach to move priorities forward.
We believe that everyone should have the freedom to choose how they move around the Show-Me State. That begins by building a transportation system where pedestrians, people with disabilities, cyclists, and transit users can safely get where they need to go.
We believe that a robust transportation system is critical to a robust economy. That not only means investing in the forms of transportation that generate economic growth, but also investing in a way that prioritizes maintenance over expansion.
We believe that a healthier Missouri is a stronger Missouri. That means prioritizing transportation elements that lower the risk of preventable disease, promotes healthy habits, and increases quality of life.
Our transportation system is a broader part of the communities that we want to live and work in. That not only means we need to be strategic in how we build and connect different types of infrastructure; it also means we need to align such work with related issues such as housing and land use.
